BROX - SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS & LIVING

It all started in January of 2017. A whale was spotted at Sotra. It appeared to be ill. People tried to help the whale, but its life could not be saved. (https://www.ba.no/plasthvalen/forurensning/miljovern/plasthvalen-rorte-en-hel-verden/s/5-8-726208)

Researchers wanted to find out what had made it sick, they therefore took samples and other examinations. In the belly of the whale they found more than 30 plastic bags!!

I decided then and there to spend the rest of my life "saving the planet"! I resigned from my permanent position and started my own company. As I had a master's degree in management and extensive experience from the business world, my focus became to bring companies and organizations together, help them map out their opportunities to reduce their climate and environmental footprint, set sustainable goals and find ways to achieve these goals! To my great delight, I was met with great understanding and welcomed as an adviser.

Norwegian Centre of Circular Economy (NCCE)

In the same year that I started freelancing, a center for circular economy was being established. I got in touch and offered my services, and got engaged as a consultant. I served the centre for five years, two of those years as general manager.

Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS)

Among the projects NCCE was part of was the "CCS cluster at Øra and regionally" (Borg CO2), where 18 partners collaborated in a feasibility study with the aim of contributing to the UN's sustainability goals, circular economy and national climate policy through reduced CO2 emissions. Here I was lucky enough to contribute as project manager for the two years the project lasted. It was a very exciting project where many knowledgeable and great people worked together! Here it was mapped that the cluster could reduce/remove up to 630,000 tonnes of CO2 per year (from emissions in the region). That’s is a lot of CO2 that does not reach the atmosphere!

Industrial symbiosis

Another exciting project I can mention is "Sustainable innovation through industrial symbiosis", owned by FREVAR and led by NORSUS (Norwegian Institute for Sustainable Research). In this project, 13 business partners from various sectors collaborated to optimize the use of available resources such as waste and by-products (in a circular economy), energy and water - at the Øra industrial area outside Fredrikstad.

I have really enjoyed working with these companies and collaborating to make the future more sustainable. In addition to NCCE, I have also worked for CCUS Norway, KAN (Climate cure for waste incineration in Norway), Næringshagen Østfold and others. I also hold workshops and seminars on CCUS, circular economy, sustainability, entrepreneurship and CSR (corporate social responsibility).

Best regards,
